COEMinerals researcher offers a personal opinion on SpaceX, and space resources in the Australian Financial Review

Melbourne chemical engineer Shane Usher, 51, is a space enthusiast and plans to buy shares because he believes in the underlying principles behind SpaceX’s mission.

We’re constrained on Earth by land availability, by the amount to which we can exploit our resources. That basically means that there’s a limit to the potential expansion and profitability of an organisation within the Earth domain, and the only way to break out of those constraints is in space. Society can’t grow without expansion,” Usher says.

I don’t think it’s inevitable, that’s the point. Without SpaceX, we wouldn’t have a drive to go back to space.”
